Terms and conditions
Only individuals and organisations that have been properly issued with a user account by the department are permitted to access or use this website and the department’s Client Integration Environment Application Programming Interfaces (‘APIs’) (collectively, ‘the Developer Portal’). User accounts will only be issued to personnel who have registered their details with the department, and users must not share their user account ID or password with anyone.
Users must only use the Developer Portal for purposes which are relevant to that user's work and are primarily in the nature of developing and testing software to integrate with the department’s IT systems. Users must not undertake any actions that may negatively impact on the performance, availability or data integrity of the Developer Portal. This website, and all material made available through the Developer Portal, including the APIs, is the property of the department (unless indicated to the contrary), and must not be used for any illegal or unlawful purposes.
Any access granted to the Developer Portal does not authorise the transmission of real VET data to STARS or access to the STARS production environment. Access to the STARS production environment will be granted separately, where required, and use of the production APIs and portals will be covered by separate Conditions of use.
The department may suspend or terminate a user's access immediately, without notice and for any reason, including where the department suspects or determines that there has been unauthorised access or misuse of a user account, or an actual or suspected breach of these Terms and conditions.
The department is not responsible for any costs, loss, or legal liability (whether direct or indirect) arising from the use (or inability to use) the Developer Portal and APIs by any user. The department takes no responsibility for any problems, failures or technical malfunctions of any telephone networks, online systems, servers, software or any other object related to the website, including any damage resulting from any access of material available through the Developer Portal, and to the fullest extent legally permissible, expressly disclaims any statutory or other warranty, including but not limited to guarantees of quality, merchantability or fitness for purpose. The department does not promise any specific results from use of the website or APIs.
You obtain access to this website at your own risk. You must take your own precautions to ensure that the process which you employ to obtain access to this website does not expose you to the risk of viruses, malicious computer code or other forms of interference which may damage your own computer system.
The Department may change these Terms and Conditions from time to time, without prior notice to you. Use of the Developer Portal after the date on which these terms have changed constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. The effective date will notify you whether there have been any changes to the Terms and Conditions since your last use of the Developer Portal, and the department will use reasonable efforts to notify you of any changes made from time to time.
By using or accessing the Developer Portal, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these Terms and Conditions and agree to be bound by them. You also agree to regularly check for updates to these Terms and Conditions and when using or accessing the Developer Portal, you are agreeing to the Terms and Conditions effective at that time.
