Welcome to the VDS Developer Portal

The VET Data Streamlining (VDS) Developer Portal has technical resources to assist student management system (SMS) vendors and registered training organisations (RTOs) with connecting to VDS APIs, and in building and integrating their software applications into the Student Training Activity Reporting System (STARS). These resources will be added progressively and will become available over the coming months.

You can engage in developer drop-in sessions and SMS briefings to find out more.

The developer portal will also be used for APIs supporting stage 2 of the VDS program in partnership with state and territory governments. We will inform you when this is happening. Check back here for developer portal updates, or sign up for communications through the DEWR VDS site.

About the VDS program

The VDS program is designed to simplify reporting pathways, improve data quality, reduce reporting timelines and decrease time delays between the creation, collection, and use of VET activity data.

To find out more about the program check out the website. The Student and Training Activity Reporting System (STARS) underpins the VDS program. Along with the new VET Information Standard (VET IS), STARS will improve submission processes for VET activity data.
